British Dental Association

January 2021

The West Earlham Dental Health Practice in Norwich has been recognised by the British Dental Association (BDA) as committed to providing the best possible care for its patients and meeting the requirements to become a member of BDA Good Practice.

As a member of BDA Good Practice, we have made the following commitments:

  • To provide dental care of consistently good quality
  • To work with our patients to provide care that meets their needs and wishes
  • To make treatment as comfortable and convenient as possible
  • To check for mouth cancer and tell patients what we find
  • To look after the general health and safety of our patients
  • To follow current infection control standards
  • To keep our skills and knowledge up to date
  • To monitor the quality of our service to identify opportunities for improvements

The team at West Earlham Dental Health Practice has worked hard to comply with over 120 requirements. “It has been a lot of work,” said Dr Sharma, Principal Dentist, “but everyone has found it worthwhile and we really do feel that we have improved our service to patients.”

A patient of the practice, Mrs Pearce, said that she had been coming to the practice for a number of years and always found the service excellent. “I think it’s reassuring that the practice can show it provides a good service and that the BDA has recognised their efforts” she said.

Dr Sharma, the Practice Owner, said, “We involve all our patients in their treatment right from the start. We discuss the options available and give them all the information they need to help them decide which is best for them. They are given a written outline of the agreed treatment and are told the number of appointments they need and what it will cost. We make sure that there are no surprises. Patient waiting times are kept to a minimum and we aim to provide appointments that are convenient for the patient.”
